CancerCare Junior Committee Sweet Charity Benefit!

New York, NY — An enthusiastic crowd of young philanthropists graced the Upper East Side sugary haunt, Dylan's Candy Bar, on February 12 for a benefit cocktail party hosted by the CancerCare Junior Committee.

Sweet Charity: Candy for a Cause event raised awareness and funds for CancerCare's free support services for people facing cancer.

The first fundraising event of 2009 featured Dylan's signature cocktail creations — Rock Candy Cosmos and Very Cherry Bellinis. The lively crowd also snacked on cupcakes, candy and savory sandwiches from 212 Catering.

Guests kept busy purchasing chances to win several exciting raffle items including two tickets to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, four tickets to the Daily Show, dinner for two at Blue Hill, handbags from Kate Spade and Lauren Merkin, yoga lessons from Jaya Yoga and a luxurious gift basket from L'Oreal.

To round out an evening of socializing, CancerCare's Director of Young Adults Programs Julie Larson spoke about the specialized services such as counseling and educational workshops that the CancerCare Young Adults program offers to individuals in their 20's and 30's who are facing cancer.

This sweet celebration concluded with an upbeat and optimistic a cappella performance by Columbia University's Notes and Keys that got everyone's feet tapping.
