Long Island Golf Tourney Sets
New Fundraising Record

Locust Valley, NY — A little bit of morning rain didn't dampen spirits—or the turnout—for the CancerCare Annual Classic Golf Tournament, held on July 14 at The Creek Club, in Locust Valley, New York.

What a view!

Thanks to generous supporters like you, the event broke a new fundraising record, raising nearly $170,000 to support CancerCare's free counseling, education and support services for people affected by cancer.

By late morning, the rain clouds parted as 112 golfers from around the country arrived to play The Creek's award-winning, 18-hole course. Starting off with a gourmet buffet brunch, golfers then split off

into foursomes to compete in low-net, low-gross, closest-to-the-pin and longest-drive contests. Off the course, golfers also competed for more than 50 prizes in a raffle drawing that included the best in Taylormade golf clubs, rounds of golf at championship courses across the country, and gift certificates to some of the finest restaurants in New York City. Each golfer also received a complimentary OGIO standbag.

As the sun set over Long Island Sound, golfers finished the course and reconvened at The Creek Club beach house, where they enjoyed cocktails and a sumptuous surf 'n' turf dinner featuring whole Maine lobster, filet mignon and barbeque chicken, along with a selection of gourmet desserts.
